AHS PRODUCT CATALOGUE / HARD LANDSCAPING / AGGREGATES & SANDS Shingle PRODUCT DETAILS Single-sized gravel aggregates conform to the requirements of BS EN 12620: 2013. Two versions are available: natural and crushed (sometimes called gravel). Available in 10mm, 20mm and 40mm grades. USE FOR In combination with cement, sharp sand and water in suitable mix designs to produce concretes for: Footings Foundations Setting posts Steps, etc. May also be used as a top dressing for paths and driveways. Scalpings PRODUCT DETAILS Scalpings are essentially quarry waste available in a range of sizes, including 40mm, 75mm and 100mm (40mm is most common). They are clay contaminated stones that are removed during a screening process that ensures the quality of larger rocks at the quarry. While the concept of ‘quarry waste’ may not sound ideal, scalpings are actually the perfect material for evening out the foundations of a project and make a fantastic sub-base material at a lower cost than MOT type 1. USE FOR Scalpings are largely used as a sub-base material during the construction of car parks, driveways, pathways and foundations for buildings. Scalpings also work well to fill gaps within an uneven foundation and provide an ideal base for paving and concrete.
