AHS PRODUCT CATALOGUE / HARD LANDSCAPING / PUDDLING CLAY PRODUCT DETAILS AHS Puddling Clay is a soft-to-firm, fissured dark blue to grey silty clay, with occasional fossil fragments found in it. Puddling clay has been used for hundreds of years as a lining for ponds, canals and reservoirs. It is also used in more modern times for the lining and capping of landfill sites to prevent pollution and leaching. “Puddling” is the process which lines any channel with puddle clay, making a watertight, strong clay base. Puddling clay was first used on canal systems and remains in use today to maintain them. It was also used on a lot of the reservoirs across Britain and has been used as a core for earth-filled dams. The method of lining puddled clay in a pond is simple and a lot more natural than using flexible pond liners that are not as durable and cheap. The AHS Puddling Clay conforms to British Standards, can be used for various applications and is approved by the EA and British Waterways. It is also wildlife and eco-friendly.
